Chris Hart-Williams is a senior at North Carolina State University. There he is studying political science. He currently serves as editor-in-chief of N.C. State’s Nubian Message and is a former staff writer of the student paper Technician. Chris received a certificate of appreciation from the state of NC while a communications intern at the Office of State Human Resources in Spring 2014. He also worked as an intern at WRAL News in the Fall of 2014.

Janae Peats is from the Bay Area of  California. She is an English major at Bennett College. Janae is a first generation college student who has traveled many places and therefore has seen oppression in many different forms and oppressors just as varied. She hopes to graduate from Bennett and pursue a life which she is able to be an advocate for oppressed communities providing them with the resources to gain financial, spiritual, mental, and physical freedom.


chelsea moore ignite ncChelsea Moore is a sophomore at Bennett College for women. There she majors in Journalism and Media Studies with hopes of becoming a notable public relations specialist/marketing executive. She is most passionate about equality for all races and genders in corporate America.

She’s most passionate about LGBTQ issues, women’s issues, and problems facing groups of racial minorities in America. She is the founding president of ASU’s feminist student union and member of the trans rights group transaction.

Currently, she is majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication and she aspires to host her on talk show in the future. Taylor is adamant about serving her community. She serves as the Program Leader of Communiversity Youth Program and serves as a member of the service committee for the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is passionate about voting rights and minority empowerment.

Bernard Fields is  a native of Hawaii but was raised in Hope Mills, North Carolina. He is currently a student athlete and campus activist at UNC Pembroke. He enjoys reading, nature, and being around positive people. He is most excited about making a difference in his community.

For the past few years she has volunteered at the Beloved Community Center of Greensboro under the leadership of the Rev. Nelson Johnson. She is very passionate about education and social justice. One day she plans on opening up her own child care facility so that the younger aged children are able to get a good education before going to public (or private) schooling.

She is passionate about sexual assault and sexual violence prevention. More recently she has began to focus on organizing around police brutality and state sanctioned violence.

She currently resides in Charlotte, NC where she teaches English and social studies at a charter school.  She graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a BS in Electronic Media Journalism. She is currently working on completing her master’s in Africana Studies at UNC Charlotte.

 Screen Shot 2015-02-23 at 7.14.24 PMBarry Hedgebeth is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina but grew up in High Point, North Carolina. He is a senior at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University majoring in Electrical Engineering.

There she is double majoring in Political Science and Women’s Studies and double minoring in Girls’ Studies and LGBT Studies. She is passionate about justice for low-income women and women in sexual and racial minorities. After graduation she plans to attend law school to pursue a career providing low-cost legal support for these and other populations.

Ajamu Dillahunt is a senior at Southeast Raleigh High School. He is a member of NC HEAT and Black Workers for Justice. After High School he plans to attend North Carolina Central University.
