Fall 2018 Fellowship Applications Are Open

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS Wednesday, August 1 at 11:59PM. Applications sent earlier will be prioritized. $500 stipend upon successful completion. Descriptions of fellowships are below. Decisions will be made by August 8. 

Eligibility requirements:
*Must be in North Carolina
*Must be between the ages of 18-30
*Must be committed to to social justice
*Must be available for training Jan. 12 – 15 training & evaluation convening Apr. 13 – 15

Women, LGBTQ folks, and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply. We believe in centering and elevating youth led leadership of the most marginalized among us. We believe that when we unite and organize we create change in our communities and throughout the state of North Carolina.

Fellowship term: August 31st to November 18th 2018 

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

This political moment is calling upon all of us to build intentionally and develop bold and innovative ways to RISE, RESIST, and REIMAGINE! Fellows will be engaged in a dynamic community and receive support in developing organizing skills to impact the state of North Carolina for a brighter tomorrow!

Join other young people across the state working to create communities of equity and justice. 

Organizing Fellowship 

Open to new and returning applicants includes the focus areas of Gender Justice, Expanding Sanctuary, Higher Education Access + Accountability, and Election Protection. Learn more about the focus areas here.

Responsibilities:

*Work with Ignite NC fellows to develop and support initiatives focused on gender justice, expanding sanctuary, higher education and/or election protection
*Develop a work plan that brings capacity to an existing campaign in the youth and student movement.
*Gather pledge cards that engage youth around relevant issues
*Document work through blog posts, pictures, and collecting data

Communications Fellowship 

Experience in website editing, writing, video editing, art activism, social media management preferred. Open to new and returning applicants.

Responsibilities:
*Develop and implement a media strategy (workplan, social media calendar, etc.) that documents and supports the organizing efforts of Ignite NC fellows
*Support the management of social media presence (facebook, instagram, twitter)
*Create content such as Newsletters, Zines, Podcast and other materials that will inform our base
*Gather pledge cards to engage youth around relevant issues
*Support organizing efforts of other fellows in your region

Training Fellowship

Open to returning fellows and will further develop leadership, organizing, and facilitation skills. All training fellows are required to host a skill building training by the end of the fellowship.

Responsibilities: *Work within your region to support local organizing efforts alongside Organizing and Comms fellows
*Build work-plan for the semester that will develop a skill building training to happen by the end of the semester on your campus or community
*Document your work through blog posts, pictures, and collecting data
*Whether it is in the beginning or end of the semester, the bulk of their work will be getting trained themselves on facilitation, base building, leadership skills, etc.
